Bennie the Lion…

Developers of Cross-Platform Game Engines & Tools

Just because it’s called 3ds Max, it doesn’t mean that it can only do 3d. Bennie the Lion is a demonstration of how to put together great, animated 2d content in the Numfum engine…

We have a special camera, for what we call 2.5 dimensional content such as this. This allows the author to lay out the content, using depth to control the order the elements are rendered. This ensures that there are never sorting issues, giving you exactly the presentation you need, with no fuss.

We also have the industry-leading support for the 3ds Max material pipeline. In this case we set up the key shapes for facial animation, in the multi-sub material – then all the animator needs to do is to flip which material index the geometry uses, to get this traditional animation style simply.
